Mental Health and Addiction Services for Youth 12-18

A number of agencies in Haldimand and Norfolk counties provide services for youth aged 12-18. This list of resources is designed to make information easily accessible for youth justice service providers, families and youth.

While some services have specific age requirements, all services are available to youth across the region.

Child and Youth Crisis Service - Haldimand-Norfolk REACH
24/7 service for children, youth and their families who are experiencing a mental health crisis, including thought of suicide or self harm.

24 hour crisis service includes:

  • 24 hour phone line
  • Short term crisis counseling
  • Peer specialist support
  • Face to face assessments are arranged

Crisis Stabilization Bed Program
Canadian Mental Health Association H-N Branch
Provides a safe and secure environment for individuals coping with an acute mental health crisis. Stay can be from 3 - 5 days. Staffed 24 hours. Not for individuals who need a FORM 1 or Schedule 1 admission.

Immediate free counseling services for children, youth and their families, every Tuesday from noon to 6:30pm at REACH, 101 Nanticoke Cr, Pkwy, Townsend.

Intensive support in the home, school and/or community, to help families with children and youth that are experiencing significant difficulties in managing their feelings and behaviours and as a result may be at risk of family breakdown or loss of school placement.

S.T.A.R. (Stop Abuse in Relationships)
H-N Women’s Services
Counselling is available in all secondary schools in Haldimand and Norfolk for female and male students who:

  • Have witnessed abuse
  • Have experienced abuse in a dating relationship, either as the victim or as the abuser
  • Have been a victim of sexual assault / abuse
  • Have experienced other forms of abuse in dating or peer relationships, e.g. bullying, harassment
  • Want information and help to support a friend in an abusive situation

Adult Mental Health Program

Community-based, client-focused services for individuals with mental health concerns.

Non-clinical program that supports recovery, wellness and quality of life through social recreation, peer support, education and advocacy.

  • Individual and group peer support
  • Advocacy on behalf of members and/or toward effecting policy changes at agency and government levels to benefit all consumers

The Community Support Program - CMHA-HN Branch
Intensive case management supports to people with serious and persistent mental illness, concurrent disorders (mental health and addictions), complex needs (dual diagnosis / acquired brain injury), urgent needs (needing immediate, non-crisis supports).

Assists individuals with a mental health issue who come into contact with the criminal justice system. Services provided include: mental health court diversion community based case management consultation and information.

Urgent Care Bed - Union House (Simcoe) H-N REACH
Accommodation for youth who may be considered "at risk," and who are in need of urgent service. The program will offer a safe and structured environment for youth to reside on a short-term basis. During this time, staff will work 1:1 with the youth.
