Home Counselling & Supports for Children & Youth Developmental Services for Children & Youth Respite Supports
Special Services At Home
REACH Special Services at Home is designed to make it easier for people with disabilities to live at home with their families and be involved in their community. Through this program, funding is provided to help families pay for special services in the home, such as hiring someone to provide respite (a break from day-to-day care), instruction on daily living activities or new skill development.

Can funds be used to purchase equipment that makes it easier to care for a person with a disability who is living at home? No.
The amount of money a family receives depends on:
  • the type and amount of services a person needs,
  • what other help is available in the community,
  • and, the type of support a family is already receiving.
A REACH Family Support Coordinator will work with your family to:
  • identify the needs of the individual and the needs of the family,
  • complete a family planning process,
  • submit the Special Services at Home (SSAH) application,
  • and, evaluate the services delivered through this funding.
Is our family eligible?
  • To be eligible for this program, you must:
  • have a child under the age of 18 with a developmental or physical disability,
  • be an adult with a developmental disability living at home,
  • or, if an adult not living at home, not currently being supported by another residential service.
An assessment (diagnostic statement) from a registered psychologist or licensed physician, noting an individual's developmental handicap and/or physical disability, is required for this program.
