The REACH Behaviour Support Program gives families strategies to help with behaviours of children who have a developmental disability. Sometimes these behaviours come to the forefront at home and sometimes at school, daycare, or other community settings. In this program, a group of REACH staff work with the family to design a program to help put these strategies to work at home, at school and in the community. The Behaviour Support Program can provide:
Am I eligible? The Behaviour Support Program is a voluntary service available to children, who are between the ages of two to 18. Children must be identified with a developmental handicap and have developmental delays in at least two areas. They must also reside in Haldimand or Norfolk counties. Referrals are accepted from a parent, legal guardian, or from a third party (with parental consent). The parent, child, principal and the classroom teacher can be involved in the assessment phase to help identify the child's strengths/needs and to enlist cooperation of all parties.
