Youth Justice Liaison Committee
The Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) replaced the Young Offenders Act on April 1st, 2003.  This Act changes the way that police, courts and the community deal with young persons in conflict with the law.

In December 2002, H-N REACH Youth Services invited community agencies and members to join together in the formation of a committee to share information and provide a cohesive direction for the implementation of the YCJA and Youth Justice initiatives within Haldimand and Norfolk counties.  The Youth Justice Liaison Committee was formed in December of 2002 and meets approximately 4 times per year.  H-N REACH continues to take a leadership role, chairing the committee and providing administrative support.

We meet quarterly to network, identify concerns, problem solve issues and advocate for meaningful services and programs.  This group has recently successfully advocated for high school liaison officers being placed at all Norfolk County high schools.
