CYAN Terms of Reference

Vision & Mission Statement

CYAN exists to promote the well being of all children and youth and their families in the Haldimand and Norfolk Counties by encouraging safe, healthy and supportive communities.

Towards this end, CYAN will:
  • provide opportunities for networking and making connections.
  • encourage and support community partnerships.
  • provide individual and collective advisory supports to communities.
  • take collective action in the best interest of our children and youth.
  • advocate for the needs of children and youth through community education, cross sector planning/dialogue, and clear identification of community priorities.
  • serve as an advisory group to various community programs as appropriate.
CYAN Value Statement
As members of CYAN, we value, believe and uphold the 2005 Charter of Rights for Children and Youth in Haldimand & Norfolk Counties. We will strive to foster partnership, creativity, self-determination and inclusivity among our members.

Membership:

Any person/group/organization living or working in the Counties of Haldimand and Norfolk with an interest in the well-being of children and youth is encouraged to participate.

Members of the Child and Youth Advisory Network shall:
  • be informed of all Child and Youth Advisory Network meetings;
  • be available to support the operations of the Network;
  • be available to be called upon for their best advice by any Network member;
  • have the best advice of the Network membership available for any specific question or project;
  • have access to the Network web-site.
