Licensed Home Care - Starting up your own Licensed Home Care
REACH Licensed Home Child Care Program was developed to meet the needs of families in Haldimand and Norfolk counties.  Licensed Home Child Care is care given in an approved private home, for up to a maximum of 5 children. The program recognizes the importance of quality care and the right of each child to be recognized and accepted as an individual with strengths and weaknesses.

REACH Licensed Home Child Care Program recognizes the importance of creating and maintaining a positive relationship formed between the child/family and their caregiver to ensure optimal care.  The role of REACH is to assist parents and caregivers identify needs and expectations so an appropriate match can be made and the relationship remains strong.

Caregivers sub-contracting with REACH are self-employed and provide care in their own home.  Caregivers receive:
  • advertising for child care spaces available,
  • guaranteed payment for childcare provided,
  • equipment loans (i.e. cots, double strollers, high chairs, playpens)
  • and,  on-going support from the Licensed Home Child Care Coordinator through home visits, workshops and quarterly newsletters.
Am I eligible?
Persons age 18, or older, wishing to sub-contract with REACH Licensed Home Child Care Program should contact the Licensed Home Child Coordinator. A telephone interview will be arranged and once completed, further information about the program including an Application and Children’s Aid Record Check consent form will be sent to you. Once the application and consent forms are returned to REACH, the Licensed Home Child Care Coordinator will contact you to set up a time to meet with you in your home.

What are the rates for child care?

For children under the age of two years:

Full Day:                          $28.00
(Over 5 hrs up to
and including 9 hours)

Half Day:                         $17.00
(Over 2 hrs up to
and including 5 hrs)

Weekly:                           $140.00
(full days)

Hourly Rate:                    $4.00

For children over the age of two years:

Full Day:                         $27.00
(Over 5 hrs up to
and including 9 hrs)

Half Day:                        $16.00
(Over 2 hrs up to
and including 5 hrs)

Weekly:                          $135.00
(full days)

Hourly Rate:                   $4.00

Note: Hourly rate applies if care given is LESS than 2 hour, MORE than 9  hours or if OVERTIME applies.
