Licensed Child Care

Licensed child care is quality care that is regulated by the Day Nurseries Act.  This Act sets standards for the early learning and care program, including the qualifications of the staff that look after your child, the ratio of caregivers to children and other important health and safety considerations.

This type of care can be offered in a home, daycare or local community centre or school and is designed for children from infancy to 12 years of age.  It can include care during the day or before and after school and may be subsidized.  The care includes fun, creative and learning activities, healthy meals and snacks for your child and can be accessed through REACH.
