CAPC offers the following groups for parents, free of charge, that help parents learn more about their child’s development and build parenting skills in a supportive environment. These include: The Toddler Years: Parents of 12-36 month olds meet to learn positive ways to respond to typical toddler behaviours, with lots of opportunity to talk to other parents. This group is held over six sessions. Location and time to be determined based on registration. Mom's Talk: Moms get together to talk about the things that matter to them including relationships, parenting, feeling alone, support, and friendship. The group meets on Wednesdays in Simcoe from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Ontario Early Years Centre. This group runs from September to June. Right from the Start: Parents will have the opportunity to talk to other parents and learn skills that may be used to improve the attachment (emotional attunement) relationship with their baby. The group is for any parent with a child under two years of age. Groups run at the Ontario Early Years Centre in Simcoe, Caledonia and Dunnville, based on registration. Child care is provided on site. Beyond the Basics: CAPC has partnered with REACH, Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit and the Children's Aid Society of Haldimand & Norfolk to offer this group to parents who have children up to 6 years of age. This is a closed group and all referrals come directly through the Children’s Aid Society. The group is eight weeks in length. Young Parents Group : Pregnant and parenting teens are invited to enjoy a nutritious meal, parent-child activities, discussions, support and information, belly painting and belly casting at the Ontario Early Years Centre in Simcoe. Please call for upcoming dates and times. STEP: Start getting your questions answered today with Early Childhood STEP. This group is for parents of toddlers and preschoolers and provides information about child development, practical discipline and communication strategies, ways to build self-esteem and much more! Child care is provided on site. Location and time to be determined based on registration. C.O.P.E.: The Community Parent Education program (C.O.P.E.) helps parents build positive skills to address children’s disruptive and challenging behaviour. A children’s program, for children 4-6 years old, is also offered at the same time, to focus on social skills, listening, sharing and feelings. Please call for the location and time of the next group. Am I eligible for these programs? Is there a cost for these group programs? How do I access or learn more about this program? CAPC is sponsored by Haldimand-Norfolk REACH. The Public Health Agency of Canada, in agreement with the Province of Ontario, provides funding for CAPC.
